anemone and anemone fish

My anemone died the other day. Even though my clownfish never hung around it, now it's acting very strange (lying on the bottom of the tank). Should I immediately replace the anemone?

Why did the anemone die?
Have you tested the water for ammonia/nitrites/nitrates after it's death?

Agreed we could use some info on your setup and lighting. Also compatability as to what type of anemone it was and what type of clownfish you have.
