Anemone ID? Help please.

Hello all. A friend just gave me an anemone. He said when he purchased it was labeled as a Long Tenticled Anemone. It's solid white, even the base. I told him that you should never buy a white nem and now he knows. We all make a mistake every now and then but im trying to nurse this dude back. I have it in my Aquapod right now because I've seen other aquapods that are housing nems with sucess.

Anyway here is a picture. I recently got this tank from the same friend and it has been established for over a year atleast. The salinity is a little high and the Ph is a tad low at 7.9 I am working on both of these situations right now. I put the nem in the tank and it found a spot within 10 minutes. He has sat there ever since (1 day). He looks healthy and I fed him some Mysis shrimp just a while ago. He ate them no problem. The only nem I've heard of that is actually white is a Sebae. Could this be what I have? On a side note how long will it take my Perc to figure out he can host in this nem? Can i do ANYTHING to help this process? This is the only reason why I took the nem from him. Im worried that the nem is stressed and could posion my tank.

sebaes are not white either. From what I have read, there is no naturally occurring anemone that is healthy and white. white=unhealthy. i'm not an expert on nem identification, but I have a sebae that was bleached and it didn't have the long tentacles, there were very short and almost bubbly with purple dots on the tips. It is a good sign that it is staying in place and eating. Basically what needs to happen is this lil guy needs to restore its algae. Lighting is a BIG necessity. Frequent feeding will help, but light is a must. When I first got my nem, I was feeding every other day bits of shrimp and scallops until she turned a light tan evenly all over. Then I cut back to once or twice a week (getting way too big!) and once I got decent lighting (96 watts of 10000k T5 and 96 watts of blue actinic) I have cut back to once every 5 or so days.

(still in the healing process, but every day getting darker and darker) Just some tips. So I do believe u do have the LTA, and yes, it needs lots of tlc.

I'm having a similar issue I get a white with blue tip anemone and I now think it was dyed or so my hubby thinks it seems very happy right now though he swears it will die soon though dunno its really pretty and my mohawk picassos haven't gotten attatched to it yet I think I'll add a bubble to the tank but we have had white anemones before and it didn't survive long at all. usually an anemone has some kind of tentical pattern like spots on the tips, they may look solid from far away but up close and with proper lighting you should be able to see it they love good light so give em plenty.
