I just got this anemone from a brother-in-law who knows less about it than I do. The problem is I know nothing about it. My ? is what kind is it and does it look healthy? Also I know lighting is important and all I have is a 30inch coralife that has 4 bulbs in it I think they are 65w each. Is that going to be enuff light?

Your anemone is white, this normally means that it is unhealthy due to its having lost its zooxanthellae that lives inside of it.
The term is bleached when a coral or particularly an anemone goes white.
You will definatly need more than just standard lighting such as was stated like VHO or more if you can afford it.
I would also suggest feeding it two or three times per week for the presant time, meaty foods, but not brine shrimp. Pay attention to the tenticals and see if they grab the food. Unhealthy tenticals might not be as sticky.
Do you know what type of lighting you have now? There should be some writing on the bulbs.

Thanks Thomas, the lighting is a coralife with 50/50 65watt on the bulbs. Is that good enuff or should I buy a VHO or something better. The tank is a 45g corner and about 30 inch deep.

i dont want to steal this from thomas, everything hr said was dead on , imo u need a lighting upgrade for your anemone , t5 would be great for your tank size and for the bta. a mh might be a bit much for a 46 . u will experience heating issues

Thanks, about the T5s am I able to just buy 2 T5 bulbs and switch it with my 65watt 50/50 bulbs, or do I have to buy a new fixture? Thanks again.

Hello-start spot feeding him mysis shrimp or small silversides-just gently touch his tentacles with the food and he should grab it. Feed him at least every other day to start.

Not sure about that-but I wouldn't take a chance-(preservatives)-you can buy frozen mysis and silversides at your lfs.
