My Anemone is closed up and has been for 2 weeks. The clown fish that I have is thus unable to deliver food to it. How can I get it to open? Does this mean that it is dying? Please help :(

need more info
What kind of anemone is it?
How old is your tank set up?
What is your tank set up?
What is your lighting? (very important)
What are your water perameters?

Check you pH level in the tank. Anemones are very sensitive to pH fluctuations. You may need to buffer the water, using a complete buffer that includes carbonates and bicarbonates, also borates. Keep your nitrate concentration below 15 ppm. Happy reefing and try to keep yopur pH about 8.2 .

i doubt it is ph flux- it is just possible it wasn't healthy to begin with and isn't recieving enough light and food. but the anwsers to the previous questions could tell a lot.

acually your perc. is not really "feeding" your anemone. in nature the clown would lure food into the "mouth" of the anemone to give it food and in return the fish that is lured in would not be able to eat the clown. I do belive that phydoplankton (sp) or a product like reef snow could feed the anemone but you would have to use a terky baster and inject it to feed it.

Anenomes need a ton of lighting, up around 8-10 watts per gallon, even then they have a tank lifespan of about 6 months. They are also very delicate when it comes to pH, NH4 and NO2.

IMO, anemones do NOT belong in tanks, esp with new hobbyists, nothing personal.
Judging from the questins, I am assuming you are fairly new to this(if not sorry), which would lead me to believe that your tank is very young as well. Anemones have very delicate needs, which can only be provided with a mature and established tank, outstanding lighting and the care of experienced hobbyists, and even then, their lifespans are not near what they should be. Some may brag of having one for a year or 2 but this is nothing. Personally I willn ot even talk to anyone who has had one les than a year. I would seek my advice on keeping them from those who have had them for years(if I were to keep one). And this is still not a good measure, since most still only live for several months to a year or 2(they should live for 100s of years)
As for your questions, if your tank is young, Then the odds of it surviving are very slim to start with and this could be part of the problem, but if you want the best answers, give us the infor already asked for.

"Do they/don't they belong" issues aside (because it really won't help Perugini's current problem), are you only relying on the clown to bring food to the anemone?
If so, try feeding it directly. Try some squid, or some scallop or something like that. It may not be getting enough nourishment.
If it isn't grabbing solid food, try a liquid supplement. I use Advanced Invertebrate Formula I. You can suck some up in a turkey baster, and inject it (not too hard though) into it's mouth.
If it's been closed for two weeks straight though, it may be past the point of being able to save it...has it shown any signs of life?
