Anemone lacking a "bubbly personality"

I've had a green bubble tip for about 8 months and shortly after I got it the bubbliness disappeared. Other than losing it's shape it seems fine. I feed it 3 times a week and it hosts one of my clowns. It has also gotten larger. Can anyone tell me why the bubbles have gone?

personally I dont know what that happens. I have a rose that did the same thing, IMO i see the bubbles usually after transport or stress which makes me believe its a defense mechanism. Therefore when comfortable and healthy they lose their bubbles and grow in size which also makes it easier for them to catch their food with the stringy arms. I have had mine for a while and its is doing great so I dont worry about it.

Some bubble tips just don't stay as "bubbly" as others. I've heard it has to do with where their collected, water quality, if there's a clown aggravating it, etc. I don't really know what the right answer is, BUT, it happens. I have 4 bubble tips, two green, two RBTA, only one RBTA has kept is full tips, the rest all look almost like long tentacle nems now. I blame my fish for destroying mine.

Bubbletip Anemones use their tentacles as a way to gather passing food and light. When they are in search of food they will stretch out the tentacles making them look stringy. The Bubbletip Anemones also have zooxanthellae in their tentacles which need light in order to feed, they in turn feed off of the zooxanthellae. When they are not receiving enough light they will stretch out their tentacles in order to maximize the amount of light they are receiving. In nature food rarely comes to an anemone, many anemones have only received one type of food source their whole lives. They may not recognize and have no way of telling what you are feeding them, so they may not take it at all. When and if they do take the food offered they may not even digest it as they have never "tasted" it before. Due to not having a constant supply of food most anemones can survive for quite a while without it. They will however eventually starve to death as a result of improper or lack of proper feeding.
With that said what type of aquarium are you running? What are your water parameters? What is the depth and how far down is the anemone in the water column? How much flow is in the aquarium and what type of power heads are you running? What type of food are you feeding it, have you tried anything else? What type of lighting are you running and what is the watts per gallon?

You can really place them anywhere in the tank, they will move on their own so it really doesn't matter. I would suggest placing it under some shade so that it isn't light stunned if it has never under very bright lighting. When you place the anemone in the aquarium make sure all returns, pumps and powerheads are covered in filter material to prevent it from getting sucked into them. This is when most anemones are injured and killed. They are very vulnerable when they move and it is pretty stressful for them. Don't bother feeding for a few days as it will most likely regurgitate anything you feed.
