Anemone not sticking

Hi,
I just got myself a Ritteri anemone last weekend and it is still not sticking to any rock or glass. It is currently lying on the sand bed and has been moving around for the past 3 days. Is this normal? How long would it normally take for an anemone to find a place to stick to?
Thanks. Help much appreciated.

There isnt an easy answer to that question. Most all anenomes will foot where it can find the best of everything, light, flow and food. If it cannot it may sacrifice one for the other but in time move again to get what it has been lacking. If your anenome doesnt foot in a week after purchasing IMO I would investigate as to why..water chemistry to begin with, hows your lighting and your flow too? Another important thing to look at, what condition was the anenome in when you purchased it? Did it look really healthy?

Thanks perfect dark..... I have good news... I went back last nite and gave my little anemone abit of a help by placing her on a live rock for a few seconds... She instantly attached herself to it. This morning, she's still attached to the same spot........ Really happy now and hope that she likes the spot...

Will be checking on the calcium and magnesium level tomorrow because I had to do a water change. The NO3 was abit on the high side yesterday...........

I guess I spoke to soon... my anemone has detached herself this afternoon............ What is the best method if any to help the anemone to attached to a spot for a longer period of time...
Can a Ritteri Anemone be burried under a sand bed?

Im not sure where a Ritteri likes to reside.. the downside to having an anenome is you cant keep them from moving. Its going to reside in a place that will best suit its needs. Adjusting your tanks flow, chem, and lighting will make it eaiser for it to find that spot but ultimatly its the anenomes decision.

ritteri/H.magnifica, is one of the most difficult anemones to keep. They require intense lighting (Strong halides) and A LOT. They will usually perch themselves on the highest rock. If they receive enough light and enough flow, they can easily reach 3 foot in diameter. How big is your tank? What type of lighting? what kind of flow?
