Anemone Problem.

1st time marine Hobbiest- So any advice would be appreciated.
I bought a Anemone (Heteractis Magnifica) last week and ever sice being put in the tank (300L) it has been hiding in the dark behind the rocks. It almost seems like it doesnt want to go in the light.
I have proper lighting , both are 40W, Marine Glo and Life Glo 6700k.
Water Has been tested and is terrific and the corals are fine with this lighting
Is the Anemone just taking awhile to be aclimatized to its surrounding or is the lighting im using not appropiate for this species?? or is it something else?
A Little bit of advice would be great.
Cheers

Well, Number 1, You got a very hard to keep anemone if it is what you say.
Number 2, Your lighting is nowhere close to being enough to keep any anemone or coarls healthy for any length of time.
You have just standard florescent lighting. This will NOT work.
Take the anemone back to where you got it and save it's life now.

take it back, get new lighting, try again, but with an easier species. BTA's are usually a favorite around here b/c they work, I'd try that one. Also, how many litre's are in a gallon? 300L tank doesn't really seem big enough for that particular anemone...

300L is actually realy big, a litre is almost a gallon, but yes your lights are definetly not enough, I would use higher kelvin aswell as more wattage. Something like 10,000k bulbs. you should have something like 3-5 watts per gallon in lighting, so for instance for my 55 gallon, I have a total of 65 watts per bulb, and 4 bulbs or 260 watts, thats over 3 watts per gallon. I have a BTA which can survive in this lighting, your anemone, needs metal halide, and something like 4.5-5 watts per gallon. Take it back to your LFS, buy sufficient lighting, and get a BTA. If this LFS told you yopu have sufficient lighting DONT GO BACK TO THEM AGAIN! Hope the anemone lives!

so u have a 75 gallon, still not enough light, I would reccomend 3-5 w/g, so go with 4 that makes a total of 300 watts. thats a $200 (or so) investment in a quality light fixture that will keep your corals aliveand thriving, as well as your anemone.
TANKYOU THOMAS FOR THIS KNOWLEGE!
