anemone question

Is it normal for a white anemone to looks "dirty" after it's been in your aquarium for awhile? I know if it looks like it's "melting" it's dying but I'm not sure what fits that description. I'ts tentacles aren't up, they are laying down on the sand and the tips of them look "deflated". My readings are:nitrites and nitrates 0, ammonia 0, ph 8.4. I have 260 watts of pc lights half white/half acitinc and it's a 55 gallon.

Well that does kinda describe what they do. I've always thought of that tentacle look like a bunch of dirty tan/gray/whitish rubber bands laying there. Like a bunch of fireman just bunched up their hoses after a fire. As long as he isn't melting or disintegrating then he is probably just expelling water and waste for now.
If it started out white, but is getting darker then it also may be regaining a healthier population of zooxanthellae.
A pic to be sure would help!

thanks, but I don't have a digital camera! I know anemones do lots of different things, but I've had this one for about two months and haven't seen him do this yet.

Well if its not normal for yours then keep a close eye on it. Double check those paramiter including calcium and alkalinity. Check the pH too, temp, salinity. Give everything a general checkup, everything else in tank acting normal?

yes, everything else is acting fine. I will recheck the water params in the morning. I don't have an alkalinity test kit though. Thanks for your help
