Has anyone ever tried to sexually reproduce anemones much like people have made attempts to breed corals with moon cycles and temp fluctuations? I'm prolly WAYYYYYYY outta my league to try this, but I got into the hobby because I like anemones and I have had pretty good luck so far. My orange base has tripled in size the past 2 months, and honestly I like to pay more attention to him more than my corals. I'm even considering ditching my LPS corals for more anemone space. I know that they can fight, but the reason that I like orange bases is that that dont like to leave the sand. This mean no Power Head fights, and a new trick that im trying....My current anemone is in a hole, base buried, surrounded by rock. Since they dont climb, I added another anemone (orange base) on the other side of the tank. after he buried i put rock aroudn him to see if he tries to move out. If this is successful in keeping them apart I may move more rock and try another one or two.
Why do I want so many? I'd really like to fiddle with different night lighting and temp fluctuations similar to getting corals to reproduce, in an effort to get captive bred anemones. Can anyone point me to a good book or website or magazine etc detailing reproduction in corals? Has anyone ever tried anything similar?
Tks for any help provided, even though I doubt it will be something that I can accomplish, I beleive that It is definitely a worthwhile endeavor.
