Hi Bill109,
Atlantic anenomes are not common to clown fish they dont exist in the same water and never have. So to put one with a fish that isnt used to seeing them can be stressful. Also Atlantic Anenomes by nature are more aggressive IMO they are alot more preditory than some others. Your tank IMO can support an anenome and one of the most common is the BTA. IMO they are the most docile and the eaisest to care for. Although the word easy shouldnt be taken lightly all anenomes require TLC and pristine water. Bubble tips are more tolerable than most to changes in your tank and dont require a ton of light to survive. They among a few others are one of the more popular species that a clown, perc or ocellaris will host on.
From what I have see ocellaris dont have the success rate that percula's have to host.. I dont know why but I have had 4 ocellaris fish and none have hosted and I bought my first 2 True Perc's and in 1 day they are starting to host. Not saying yours wont there are pleanty that have, but you also stand the chance of them picking a soft coral or a power head to host with or witout an anenome. Good luck.

get an rbta. but they may or may not be hosted by the anemone. my two ocellaris love living in my large hammer coral and she finally let the male in. be careful if youre going to mix it in a reef, especially with something as expensive as sps, they might end up walking around and stinging your prized corals.

thanks..
ur right about the thing with the RBTA and SPS..
it could be a problem? one question about them
if my rbta dies.. dosent it have a potential of almost killing and crashing a tank? or is it just lik nething els tht dies.. just creates seomt trates?
with the light i have i should be able to do any coral right eccept stony without changin bulbs for a bit? cus i really like the frogspawn and hammer corals.. the fish shouldnt have a problem with stinging corals should they?

youwont have a problem with corals stinging your fish, unless you have something that really wants to live in the coral like a clownfish, even then it wont kill it. if the anemone dies it might cause an ammonia spike, just take most of it out, run carbon, and make sure the skimmer is on

Sorry but no, if your anenome dies it will create a huge problem for your tank if its not found in time. Anenomies are extremly toxic and if your tank is small enough and the anenome is large enough it can and most certainly release these toxins as it dies and decays. This will not only cause a massive amonia spike but it will also create a LOT of nitrates. Anenomies are to be dealt with cautiously. Good luck..

royal grammas are awesom fish. the colors on them are amazing.
u mentioned running carbon.
for filtration i have a huge penguin filter an emperor 800 i believe. and a very good skimmer made by aqua c.
in the filter pad i have the active carbon buttt is this going to bea nitrate trap? i have had the same padS in there since i started the tank in december and havent had ne problems.
i shouldnt need a sump for a reef if i just watch my perams i suppose?

Yes its the stock lighting BTA's can survive under PC lighting. IMO no less than 3 watts per Gal. You can also get a tube anenome too, they are low light anenomes but use caution they are small fish eaters. VERY Preditory but they aren't mobile they only sit in one spot. Good Luck with your gramma they are cool fish to have and they have quite the little attitude on them.

i had problems with it and my yellow tail damsel, but he eventually stopped picking on the gramma now they swim around. the gramma actually tried fighting with my little green clown goby because the gramma wanted the devil's hand that my little goby lives in and my goby actually scared him away, pretty weird
do you have pics of your bta?
