I should be able to get an anemone (and hard corals) with these T5 lights, right?
24 inch long 4 bulb T5 fixture with built in LED Moonlights, from Coral Vue.
Fixture includes individual parabolic reflectors for maximum light output. Also, included are two 24 watt HO T5 actinic blue bulbs and two 24 watt HO T5 10,000K daylight bulbs. Each fixture includes both hanging hardware, legs and stands for fixture placement. Features an acrylic splash lens to protect bulbs from moisture. Unit has one power cord and three power switches, one for the actinic blue lamps, one for the daylight lamps, and one for the moonlights. Dimensions are 23.5 inch long by 10 inch wide by 1.5 inches tall.

Thanks!

I would say no...IMO. Most anemones need very high light requirements. They will live for 6mos to a couple of years on lower then good MH lights, but never seem to thrive and usually end up shrinking into a fraction of what they were and eventully die. I will say that I have had no experience with long term T-5 with anemone, but have with top of the line and watt PC's with bad results. (water near perfect). Go with MH's....save your money and get "real light" if you want anemones. I have heard great things about T-5's, so maybe some here can shed some good light.......no pun intended, on your set-up. Good luck, healthy anemones are the best! I have 3 Rose BT's and they are beautiful. They keep getting bigger and bigger, and even more brilliant.

Anemones need metal halide if you want them to live for any length of time. An extensive survey was done on anemones in captivity a few years ago. One thing all of the successful anemone owners had in common was metal halide lighting.
ps - make sure you even want an anemone. They move around whenever they feel like it and whatever they walk over dies.

T-5's are extremely bright and depending on the size of tank you can get away with it. You need about 4 watts of light per gallon. So if your tank is smaller then you will be fine. I have and personally know some people getting away with 2-3 watts with T-5. What size is your tank?

I would say would say you should be fine then. I would stick to one of the easier ones then like a bubble tip which stays a bit smaller too. a lot of clowns are more likely to host that one as well.
