First, specs:
30 gallon
250 w MH 10,000k
34 lbs lc
1.245 spec grav
temp 80
PH 8.3
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 15
Nitrite 0
flow - apx 20 times
Fish - 1 maroon clown, 1 LM blenny
Clean up crew - 4 sm hermits 5 turbo (I believe in adding clean up crew as needed so there is enough food to go around. Thus far my tank is very clean)
Tank has been set up for six months
I purchased the BTA six days ago and it appeared to be healthy to me based upon the research I have done as well as pictures I have viewed of healthy BTA's.
I put the BTA in the tank on some rockwork about 2/3rd the way down. Right away it climbed up to a big hole in one of my rocks that essentially functions as a cave. I can see inside the "cave" but it is certainly shadowed from the light. For six days the anemone has not moved from the spot and is getting very little light.
I am a bit scared that if I feed it too much it might become complacent in that spot and delay the time it takes to move out to where it can get some needed light. My hope is that if it is hungry it will come out.
It still appears relatively healthy and so the other side of me says that if it needs to move it will do so on its own. Though, my other big concern is that I know with their slow metabolisms, they are often slow to show signs of decline, and by the time they do it is often to late. It has shown no sign of wanting to move out yet. The only thing it has done was to close up the day after I got it for about four hours or so before it opened again.
Any suggestions?
