I have a RBTA and I don't use anything. I never react or nothing.

There are gloves available that can reach up to your shoulder, check with your local Veteranarian (sp).

i use the long gloves. most will not harm you other then itching in some cases but its not worth the risk IMO. i would not go grabbing a carpet though. it is best to put your hands in the tank as little as possible so gloves are your best bet.
