anenmone feeding

I got a purple base anenome and I have a few questions. I fed it a small piece of shrimp today, and after around an hour it spit our some black stuff. Also the tentacles will inflate and deflate occasionally. Are both of these normal? Thanks

YES,Both are normal for an anemone.They have a very simple digestive system.Only one hole,and what goes in must come out...And they often replace the water inside thier bodies with fresh..Usually at night though...
