i like anenomes in a reef, i think they add character when you get a clown to find a home in one. the only con i can find is that until they find a spot that they like, they move around a lot. but once they find their spot i think you are golden. plus i think it is pretty ool when you spot feed them. make sure you have enough light for one before you get it, if thats what you are thinking.

I Had A Condi For A While Until An Unfortunate Powerhead Acccident. Since Then I Have Added More Rock And Moved Things. Do You Find That They Bother Your Corals Though. The Only Reason I Want Another Is I Have A Clarki That Was Hosting The Other One, And He Is So Pitifully Lonely Since The Other One Died.

I Guess I Should Rephrase My Answer. The Clown Is Not The Only Reason I Want Another Anenome. I Really Enjoy Watching Them, Especially With The Fish Hosting It Is Awesome. My Concerns Are That Before He Can Find His Spot Will He Hurt Any Of My Other Corals. I Have Zoos, Frogspawn, Polyps, Brains, Xenia, And A Couples Clams.

I have 3 anemones in my 75 gallon reef, I've been lucky though they settled right down in a place they liked. If they moved around alot it would be a real pain.

You couldn't have said it better! They are golden in a reef or not.

my rose bubbletip roamed for awhile. It has been in the same spot for quite some time now, and my tomato loves it.

I have a BTA in my 29 gallon reef. My clowns finally took to him and it is great! He only moved around for about 3 days. So far so good. No trouble.

its good to hear that so many people have anenomes in a reef tank. i think i will get one for my clarkii, poor thing he has resorted to wallowing in the sand. poor thing :notsure:

I cant say either way. The guy at one of my LFS told me not to worry about stinging nearby corals. Any way, I am still giving it its own section of the tank right near the middle with about 8 inches (at the biggest size of a bubble tip) away from the nearest coral.

I have recently changed my mind about anemones. I think it's all in what you want from your tank. If you are growing and nurturing sps corals, then the last thing you want is some stinging anemone bellying up beside them. If you are growing noxious corals only..like torches,hammers,etc..I believe they can hold their own against most BTA's .Carpets are another story..they can kill everything in their path.

I think I got lucky with the BTA I bought from this website because it has stayed put since a week after I got it, (3 weeks in the same place.) I wish it would go higher up on my rock to be closer to my T5 bulbs, but so far that hasn't happened. I have 4 corals so far. I am really excited because I saw the bubble tips for the first time today. (The BTA was the size of a golfball when I got it.)
I have two Clarkii clowns that share the BTA. The smaller of the two Clarkii clowns discovered the BTA first, (within the first couple of hours of being in my tank.)
Good luck.

I have had a clown host in a brain coral as well as a mushroom patch. Now he has simply moved on to a pit he dug himself in the gravel. I do have a BTA, My clownfish however has downsyndrome, and thats why I love him.
