anenome switch

I have had this condy anenomie for quite a while now and i think its just gotton too big. It is about a foot long. I know the natural hosts of the ocellaris are really tough to keep in the long run. So do you have any ideas on a anenomie that my clown might possibly host in??? I have 2x65 watt pc's

I don't think any of those anemones meantioned would survive with only 130wts of power compacts. I would recommend staying with the anemone that you have, it's obviously very happy in your setup :)

If that lighting is on a 25 gal i think it would do ok. IMO ,but SPS freak is alot more knowlegable than iam

Sandman, It's more quality than quantity in this case. 130 watts on a 10 gallon is = to 130 watts on a 100 gallon. It's the same light under a few inches of water. They will need more.

I'm having trouble with your analogy that 130 is the same on the 100. I see how it would be if the lights were in that one area of that 100 gallon tank like mine are one in front one in back, but if the lights were side by side then your analogy is not correct. There is just so many factors. Like in a longer bulb its so many watts total, and not how the watts are distributed in one area of your tank. Like if you have 220 watts vho those 220 watts are spread out throughout the length of the tank not in just one area.
Conclusion- I have 130 watts in a small area. Watts/gallon is very misleading and is really not a good rule of thumb.

If they were on the same side. 130 W is not alot of light on either tank. Watts per gallon is so misleading.
What i'm saying is this, they need light, lots of light. MH would be the recomended way to go.

Wouldn't MH burn up things. I mean MH are made to be for larger tanks and for the light to be distributed throughout the tank. Correct me if i'm wrong.

What are your dimentions?
A pendant should be fine. The higher you put it, the less heat transfer.

Actually, no. 150wts of halide on a 25 gallon tank is releasing the same amount of intensity on a 100 gallon tank (as Dburr already explained). Lightwise, it would be the same. Heatwise, it would be easier to heat a small volume of water than a larger volume of water, therefore it may be hotter in the 25 gallon tank running halides than it would on a 150 gallon tank with halides (provided that room temperature and all appliences are the same/creat the same amount of heat).
Like in a longer bulb its so many watts total, and not how the watts are distributed in one area of your tank.
Just for calification, watts are not distributed throughout the tank. Watts are only how much engery the bulb takes to run. Intensity, as well as Photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), are what the bulb releases.
Take Care,
Graham :)

Well here is what I did. I took my condy to the lfs and gave it to them. Instead of getting another anemone I got a Torch coral instead.

I have 130 W PC for my 29 g tank too. All the corals are doin fine. However I have not tried anmones yet. anyone has EXP on this? I want to get a anemone for my clown fish too. (well, i hope it can stay small and don't bother other corals)
thanks

I'd try a bubble tip. Healthy ones will gladly accept chunks of shrimp and other foods and require less light than most of the others for their nourishment. I've had mine for nearly 2 1/2 years under a 125w pc in a 60 gallon tank. You said you had an ocellaris? You might have a hard time getting him to accept a bubble tip or any of the others mentioned though.

yeah thats why i didnt want to get the bubble tip. I didn't think my clown would host it. I have plenty of corals for him to host in and he hasnt even taken a second look at them. One thing My clown does like is at the base of my bubble coral thats where he or she stays most of the time.
