:help: Hey everyone,
Well i have had my tank set up for about 1 1/2 years now. It is a 45 gallon reef. It you want specifis i just posted a thread about my tank in the reef tanks section. My situation is that i started with anemomes about a year ago and they always died. Now i started again about 8 months ago, and this anenome has split now for the 9th time. there is a big cluster of them in a circle. My maroons love them, but my other corals dont. the only current pic i have is about 2 months old. I will try to geta more current one on here this weekend. If anyone has any suggestions. I have asked the people in my saltwater club IllegalLink, but we are all kinda clueless on the matter of them splitting. I use well water and no addidtives. I have perfect reef water in the tank. Please if anyone has any ideas on why they are splitting that would be great. :notsure:

Thats how they reproduce. I wouldn't think it was a bad thing, if your problem is they are taking up too much space then maybe someone in your club would take one.

I fixed the picture, I am not mad at them splitting, just curious to why. I have heard that it is bad, some say it is bad, some say they are stressed. i just was wondering if there was anyone out there that knows a good answer. they seen to be very healthy, and sometimes the one that just split, splits again 2 or 3 days later. i know that they are cloneing there selves. Does anyone else out there have this problem. I have tried moving them, not like you can just pull them off of rock. I am upgrading the tank to a 125 in 2 weeks, i am going to pileup a bunch of small rocks next to them and see if they will move onto them and give some of them away. :notsure:

Maybe a new anemone that splits could be considered a "stress split", but one like yours thats been in the tank for months and then decides to split sounds fine. Besides yours has a nice healthy tint to it so I wouldn't worry.

Hey
Splitting is no proublem as long as there not killing any of ur other stuff in your tank
we started out with 1 bubble tip and now we have 22 today we sold 8 of them
we used a power head to get them off it worked realy well well are you feeding your anenmoes
b/c that well help them split we notised that they split every full moon we have a window that shines on our tank and it has helped them grow to the sun shines on it for about 1 hour so hoped this helped.

Thank you for the info. i will have to watch and see if the moon has any effect. I figure the tank gets about an hour or so of natural sun where it is. I will have to see if the moon is shinnin in at any time during the night. I do give them feedings, once a week i break up silversides
and give it to them. thanx
