Angel and Butterfly

Depends on the butterfly. Only the smallest species that don't exceed 5 inches or so would be suited for a 55, but in terms of compatability, there shouldn't be problems. I keep dwarf angels and butterflies together.

Of the "keepable" butterflies, there are a few that would do okay. I like the blackback and kleins for overall hardiness. They are fairly regular and affordable, and don't grow all that large. I would not add a butterfly to any tank that was not very stable (established 6 months or better with steady parameters) and one that did not have a good amount of live rock, which I see as essential in keeping these fish.
This is my blackback which I've had for 6 years now.

What kind of Butterfly would you recomend and would add them at the same time
I would recommend the pearlscale butterfly, among others.
You should be able to add them seperately without major issues - but you never know
