angel copper treatment

Does anyone know if angelfish, specifically passer angelfish, are sensitive to copper? Mine started scratching rocks a little bit today. My qt is not big enough to hold this fish in, so if he gets ick i will have to treat the whole tank. I dont really want to have to hypo the tank because it would be alot of work to bring down the salinity in a 150 gallon tank. Thats why im interested in the copper treatment if worse comes to worse and he gets ick. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

the qt is 29 gallon tank and the angel is 6 inches. i didnt qt him because he was at my lfs for 2 months with no problems. The tank hes in is a fish only tank, so i could treat the whole tank. Plus i dont know if i could even catch that angel, hes fast. i dont want to use copper if its risky, but i think transferring him to a really small tank then lowering the salinity is pretty stressful too. I would really like to know what treatment i should use before the problem even starts.

Thanks for all the advice. I just have one more question. Where would i get garlic to soak my food in? Can i just go to the grocery store and get some liquid garlic or something?
