Anyone watch the series finale last night. I thought it was great. But they left it so open. I also realized why I liked it when I know so many others didn't.
It was all about being a hero. Everyone I know wanted a reason for it all. They can't stand stories like the Angel series finale or the third matrix movie because they want a reason for it all. They don't want it to end. The reason is there if you look for it. A hero does want he needs to do for one reason and one reason only, screw all other concerns. And the reason is simply because it needs to be done. That's want makes them a hero because they will do what needs to be done even if everything in the universe is telling them not too. A hero doesn't take the easy way out and he doesn't let the evils of the world get away with what they are doing.
Here's an example: A football player is offered millions to play football instead he decides to join the marines and go to war. Why? Because he knew that's what he needed to do, screw millions of dollars and a cushy life. He knew he would not have been able to live with himself if he took the money and didn't do what he needed to do. Simple as that.
Just think of all the firefighters in the trade towers. I don't doubt the thoughts rolling around in their head. "This is !@#$ nuts". They are heroes.
P.S. I loved that part at the end.
Spike: So what are we going to do now?
Angel: I kind of wanted to take out that dragon.
