Anglefish in a small tank

What's so bad about putting an anglefish in a small tank? Can it just live a lazy life. Why does it need so much room for swimming?

So it can have enough room to graze, be active and be strong otherwise it will eventually die.

They have to have room to swim and it is cruel/unwise to keep fish in tanks which are smaller than they require, my buddy had a foxface in a 55 tall and it was painful to watch it try to swim in such a small tank, it constantly swam into rocks and the glass in futile attempts to swim at its desired speed, he gave it to a guy with a 120. It is quite obvious that the fish is happier and healthier in the appropriate sized tank

It would be like a human being asked to live in a closet. You can take it easy for a while, but eventually you'll want to walk around.
