ANNOYING SKIMMER! Need help

I currently have a 75 gallon aggressive tank with a VERY VERY good filter but my protein skimmer is very loud and annoying and I wanted to know how important it was to have. I need a bunch of opinions beacause I have been told many things about how important skimmers are. d Will all my fish die if I dont have one? if Io water changes every week will my tank be ok?

I would leave it on...or purchase a different skimmer. A skimmer is a required piece of equipment IMO.
If you want a more accurate answer to your question you need to post what is in your system...ie, fish, live rock, and type of filtration, how long the tank has been set-up and current water parameters.

Is the skimmer loud or is it the pump? You can get something for the air line so you don't have to listen to it suck air. I would never run one without. Your filter can't take out what you skimmer is. When I first started I didn't have a skimmer and my nitrates seemed to be always up. I mean really high. But since I got a skimmer they were always very low. I would get a timer a turn it off at night.

Leave it on and live with it, get a better/quieter skimmer or look into more serious bio-filtration.
My AquaC Remora Pro is kinda loud but it really becomes white noise. The Ammout of vile crap it removes from my lil 29g everyday is nothing short of awesome.

I have my skimmer set on a timer. It goes on at 10 at night and off at 8 in the morning. Maybe you could try that?

A FO tank will benefit just as much as a reef tank does from running a skimmer. You can go without a skimmer, but tank will be better with running a skimmer... What type of skimmer and pump are you running? A skimmer is meant to be run 24/7, and don't understand how anyone could determine which is the best time to run a skimmer, and the skimmer would have to be a major stripping machine to do the job in that amount of time.
