I added a green bta to my 150 gal tank (4 months old) he went straight for the underside of a rock and has attached to it. It stays in the dark most of the day comming up the side of the rock several times a day. I thought he needed more light that that. It eats and has hosted one of my maroon clowns. will he be ok in the dark?
I also added a purple LTA at the same time It ate the first week and has not taken shrimp since. It was in the sand bed for a week and never would attach to the sand or nearby rocks. I moved it up in the tank on some rocks thinking it needed more light but that doesnt seem to help. It stays closed up most of the time. It has not lost any of its purple color but the base seems to be getting lighter. It is still sticky to the touch. Any sugestions?
I understand that if the plta dies it will harm all the other stuff. How do you know when to remove it? One of my maroon clowns still stays right by it.

First off put the LTA back on the sandbed, that is where it prefers to be.
Second leave them both alone for two weeks, they are acclimating to your tank conditions.
Expanding and contracting will go on for a while, this is their way of purging old water and brining in new during this acclimating period, so don't be alarmed if you wittenss this.
Its never a good idea to mix species of anemones, if they find each other there will be a war.
If an anemone dies you'll know it, it doesn't take long, they melt and they stink to high heaven when you pull them out.
Good luck.

thanks for the info
what about the green bta should it hide under a rock all day.
do you think the current could be to strong for it?
it is attached to the underside of a rock and only comes out once and a while.
