another ? about switching tanks

I will be moving my 55 into a 125. I am making some rock to supplement the 75 pounds of natural live rock I already have. When I go to make the switch can I just put all the rocks in the new tank and move the livestock over immediately? What will happen with the 55(as far as filtration goes) when i take out all the rock? It only has a hob filter and a protien skimmer. I am going to be keeping the 55 set up for some months as a qt.

is that HOB enough?
Perhaps you need another one? Personally i would go with a Sump. You can build one out of a 20 gallon or 10 gallon tank in just a day or two.
If the rock is all cured and still in water and no die off is occurring then i see no reason why you cant move the sand and rock waiting for it to settle down then putting in fishies IMO. But i could be wrong perhaps someone else can give more info.

I guess I wasn't very clear. I will be leaving the hob and p. skim on 55. the 125 will have a sump/fuge and also turf scrubber. I am just wondering if i put my natural live rock out of the 55 along with some new manufactured rock in the 125 if i can just move my stock or wait.

Everything can be moved same day as long as the new rock is fully cured. When I moved eveything from my 75 into my 210, I had 3 30 gallon trash cans with water mixing a week ahead of time so that the fish were not shocked by new, not fully dissolved water. Also, the longer you can cure the new rock the better

Ok, that's what I thought. I plan on curing the rock approx 90 days and then 2 weeks in salt water. I am going to be making another batch of rocks tomorrow for in my sump. I'm going to make them like bricks with ridges on one side so i can stack them but the water will still flow thru well and I thought it would make it easier if i want to take them out and give them a swish to get any debris once in a while.
