Another algae question. . .

OK, I've got a 30 gal. w/ 40 lbs. of live rock and about 2 inches of crushed coral on the bottom. I've got 9 turbo snails and 4 small hermits (I think they're reg legged) and they do a wonderful job on the rock, but it seems like the crushed coral never seems to get cleaned. Do I need more critters, or should I just vacuum the crushed coral that I can reach when I do water changes? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
FYI - I've got a Penguin Bio-Wheel 330, CPR Bak-Pak2 Skimmer, and Penguin 550 Powerhead.
Thanks

That sounds pretty close to my setup. I have a sandy bottom though. As far as the substrate the Hermits will get to it as will the snails, but it will take time, most likely more time then you want. So yes vaccuming up the bottom when your do water changes is a good idea. If you want you can get some more snails and start them off on the substrate and see what happens???
have fun.
