Another cycling question

Don't have time to search right now I know the answer is probably on here somewhere. But here it goes.
When I fire up my tank in a month or so I will have my sump skimmer rodi unit refugium lights live sand. My main question is, is it alright if I start off with on or two pieces of live rock and add more later. I know most people say put the rock on the glass but when I add some do i just wiggle it down or should I buy all my bottom layer. Any advice would be great.

ummm if you slowly add rock you could possibly set up a VERY long cycle... depending on if the stuff you add has lots of die off. I always put the sand down first and then wiggle the rocks into it.

some people like to add the rock first before than sand so that the rock sits right on the glass and not sand so that the rocks cant fall over if a fish burrows
