I am going to upgrade the lights on my 24gal JBJ nano. I am considering the Sunpod fixture. Does anyone have this one?? Would a 250w metal halide be over kill?? The fixture comes with 1 metal halide with 6 blue and 6 white lunar lights. Do the blue & white lights make up for actinics?? I am assuming there are no moon lights??? please enlighten me!!!

250 would be wayy over kill, IMO go with the 150 (or 175 not sure which sunpod makes). The 6 bllue/white lights are the moonlights, no actinics. If you want the bluish looks that actinics give, but still want to keep the tank from being all blue, go with a 14K MH bulb.

thanks so much. I was leaning towards 150w but the fixture w/250w has a built in timer. The 150w comes w/14,000K and it's about $56.00 less. So 150w is the one i'm getting!!
OVERVIEW:
The SunPod produces an enormous amount of light and cuts through water to even the deepest depths. The PowerPaq 14,000K HQI metal halide(s) produce the energy your corals will need while the LED Moon White and/or Nocturnal Blue Lunar Lights let them relax and chill at night. Each type of LED is independently controlled - allowing you to use both colors for a gradual ramp up, or one color for nocturnal viewing. Housed in a sleek aluminum enclosure and powered by a internal proprietary electronic driving system makes for a really cool fixture. Plug-and-Play mounting features allow the SunPod to be used on any tank!

i have the sunpod 150...great light i have it on a biocube 29.... but if you want blue go 20K....14K is stock and it is good, but i am going 20 when i replace bulb......and timers are way cheaper than the bigger model

Great!! I'm glad to hear you like your Sunpod. I will try the 14K and can change to 20 if I don't like the looks of the 14K. Thanks again... It's nice to get advice when your not sure of what to buy!!

We have the 70W 14k, found it to be plenty for our 24g. works great but you will have to mod another fan in if you don't have a chiller

i do not have another fan....stays put right around 81.6 .... had the air conditioner off the other day (doing home renov) did not want it running while i was in and out all day. tank crept to 83.8 .... i got nervous and turned the light off and temp went down overnight....so long story, i too would recommend another fan
