Rocls that don't have metals in them are safe to put in a fish only tank correct. I was also wondering of there is some kind of happy medium between a fish only and a reef tank, I would like to have a lot of fish but I also wantto incorperate some reef aspects too. What would be the best thing to do?

Just remember that once you add any corals you can no longer treat the tank of any fish disease the way you could in a fish only. Also, you need pay attention to certain aspects of the tank such as calcium and such. Fish type is also important as some will pick on and eat corals. Heavy bio-load will also make it more difficult to maintain good water quality necessary for delicate corals.

You can go with a fish only with live rock(fowlr) or add some inverts like starfish, crabs,or an anemone or two then you have a (fowlrai)fish only with live rock and inverts. The later is what I claim to have. The problem here is that much like a reef, you will have to be very careful with meds.
