Another sump question

I have started up a 10g nano tank with a 20g long tank as a refug/sump. I was wondering when I could add the plants to my refug? Do I need to wait until my tank cycles. I have 16lbs of live rock and 20lbs of sand in the 10g(main tank). Thanks for any help yall can give me. Also what have yall had success with in your refugs?

Just a question, don't mean to be rude or anything, but why have a ten gallon display with a 20 gallon fuge sump. The ten really limits on what can be done. As far as how long to wait I am not sure. My tank was cycled for months before I even added my fuge. I have caulerpa and some plants that I don't know what they are. That is all I could find locally. Seems ok so far but too new really. Hopefully someone can answer more in depth.

The 20g long tank is split up into a refug and a sump. I wanted as big of a refug as I could fit under my main tank and a 20g long tank fit perfect in the bottom of the stand, so i used a tank I had and sectioned it off for what I needed. I don't think that there is anything wrong with this setup because like I said I was just trying to get as big of a refug as I could.
