Another VHO vs PC question

What is my best bet for a reef, 40g, 48" tank? I know this question comes up often, but I want to make the right choice. Thanks guys and gals!

And as far as pc's go I haven't heard any this about 55 watts being better than 96 watt pcs.
I upgraded from 55 watt pcs to 96 watt and there no way that 55 watts are better

55w pc will produce as much light as 95w vho.
You have more bulb lighting up than vho. But I also heard pc dont produce good blue spectrim. I say go to the lfs and see what you like better then buy.

Personally I decided to scratch the whole pc vs vho concept.......I use 2x65 watt 50/50 pc/2x65 watt 10k pc/2x110 watt actinic blue vho......so I went pc/vho combo///////instead of pc vs vho..........

It all depends on what you want to keep in the tank. If it is a fish only tank or a reef tank with low-light critters you should be ok. If you start adding clams or other inverts that need more light you may use a combination of PC and VHO like a lot of people do or just VHO like I do , or a combination of VHO and MH like others. It really depends on the inverts you keep and the color you want to get from your tank. I personally like the color that VHO gives my tank over PC. I originally started with PC lighting as well (108 watt 36" lights), but I like my 36" VHO's with 380 watts much better.
