from what i can tell, the males are more vividly colorful than the females. so what determines ---? are they like clowns were --- is determined based on its size relative to the other clowns in the tank, or is it born male or female permantely. also, if it is like a clown, will it become male or female if kept singly? sorry to take up another post, but i forgot to ask in the last one lol. (oh and just curious, if a clown is kept singly, what --- does it become?) thanks!

I don't know about the wrass question, if they are born a male or female or become what ever is needed. But to answer the clown question. If is a single clown that came out of a tank with other clowns of the same size, I beleive it will stay an it, but if it was a male already and it was moved to another tank where it was the only one, it would saty a male. But if you but another one of the same size, the two would fight to determine who is the alpha one and it would become the female and the other would be the male. But you had a female clown and moved it too a tank with no other clowns, then it would stay a female no matter what. My understanding is, that clowns are born "its" then the top one of everybody becomes the female and the second in line becomes the male. If something happens to the female, then the male would become the male and the next top clown would become the male. But if something happened to male, the female would stay a female and the next top one would become the male. Everyone else stays "Its". They really are amazing fish IMO.
