Well i posted on here about finding acouple ants here and there. Well we ran the sweeper everyday twice a day and seem to make them go away. well yesterday and today they are full force and we have been killing a decent amount of them. i just bought some ant traps while we were at the store lastnight for the hell of it. but we better get a company out here to spray. they are the sugar ants, ones that live next to houses, always seen runnig across driveways, porches. we will see one on the floor then another time you might see acouple since they follow each others path. makes me so mad,we keep are house really nice and clean. plus since our house is for sale last thing we need is the neighbors seeing a pest control company or someone driving by looking at the house..

Its that time of year, I get them too. Only at this time and then they go away. They are never a big problem but with having a 5 year old and 2 parents me and my wife working full time, mornings are busy. We dont really clean up the kitchen as well as it should so, this attracts them more. We put out the little raid ant cups and it helps, but in a few weeks they are usually gone.
Where are you from?

YA I did that when we had a carpenter ant problem in a nearby tree a few years ago.. that stuff works awesome.

Ohio is where we live
. anyhow they eat anything from what i read.. the ant traps we bought are raid and they have like 8holes in them for the ant to come in. yes we have a 1 year old and me and my wife and a cat. but the cat eats her own food of course haha. so i understand its hard to keep clean with little kids. my wife parents fight carpenter ants and across the street her grandma has ant problems as well. they live a hr away though.
Diazinon? now how does this stuff work exactly? like what happens when it rains? if we used it outside it would onlt get rid of the ants around the house correct?
in october when we had a warm spell for acouple weeks here we noticed some. hope they weren't hiding out somewhere all this time.
one more thing- is a extermanator spelling... a good idea? is it going to cost us a arm and a leg? if they spray inside what about us and the cat, fish tanks being bad for us? how does spraying the inside kill the ants,as if they are not where they sprayed? thanks guys

also we put down scented dryer sheets and they would run away from them. ant traps said after 3 days ants should be gone.. should we buy that stuff you guys said and keep the ants traps and wait it out?

i would have an exterminator come. you dont need an ant problem, and buyers like to know that they wont buy a house that 2nd's as an ant colony.
well worth the investment.

diazinon is a powder/granular ant poison so strong it's actually outlawed in CT (i go to mass for it
). they think it is food, bring it back and BOOM everyone dies.
it is a NASTY poison, so keep your kids/animals away from it.

OK I know a heck of alot more about ants than I do saltwater LOL.
First off there are about 15 to twenty types that these may be. Do not spray dust or attack the ants this will cause a reaction like a stressed anem. The mound will split trying to save itself. It will look like you took them out then they come back twice as strong. These ants are looking for either sugar or protein based food. Look for a bait that covers both. Also look for a bait that contains Fipronil a very good bait and a slow acting contact killer. It allows them time to take it back to the queen its kinda like amdro kill the queen kill the mound. If you put a barrier down around the house it will help. Its when you directly spray them that the signal to split the mound is given. Ants of this type actually like living in your house better than outside. Baiting is the best way to get rid of them. If I remember correctly you should get a 90% kill in 3-4 weeks. The only way to tell which ants you have is with magnification. You thought Aptasia was a pain LOL
Good luck
