ant spray and saltwater fish

PRAY-PRAY-PRAY, I would have changed more water. What are the ingrediants in the spray? STEVE

Make sure you observe the remaining fish for signs of poisoning before you add anything else. I agree with Mr. Salty that you would probably want to do an additional water change too. I am so sorry you had to learn the "hard way" that marine fish are so sensitive to pesticides, cleaners, etc.

I was told that even burning strong scented candles by the tank could kill your saltfish. I forgot how sensitive they were and painted the room that the fish were in. They started to look sickly, so I made sure that I put extra fans all around the tank, in my room, and opened all the windows in the house to get rid of the smell as fast as I could. Once I got the air cirulating AWAY from teh tank with the fans the fish did much better and I was lucky enough not to lose any fish. I am very sorry for you loss cat, and I hope that maybe this can help you fishgirl.

Fishgirl, I imagin when they start sanding on the floor the vibrations could be very stressful to your fishies.Not to mention the dust,take my word it gets everywhere. If your tank isn't sealed off it WILL get in there too.Try to put plastic over the top, seal it to the tank with tape. That should keep out the dust.To keep out fumes and POISON, after the tank is sealed take an air pump and set it in FRESH AIR (say outside a window) run an air hose into the tank.Yhe plastic will swell if you have it sealed properly. Then poke small hole or two in the plastic. What you now have is an over pressurised, containment system. No dust or poison can enter as long as possitive pressure is maintained. Learned that trick in the army.(nerve gas protection) Hope this makes sence? STEVE

Damn...my parents just told me that they are also having an ant guy come in to spray the room where my tank is at. Can somebody please tell me what i could do to help prevent any deaths? Should I take a fan and direct it lengthwise near the surface of the tank but slanted slightly upward? Can i Saran (sp) wrap the top of my tank somehow? Any help would be appreciated before i go through what cat did. Thanks
