antisocial purple tang

I have a purple tang with an epaulette shark and small yellow stingray in a 125 gallon tank, (I plan to upgrade to a 220 - 250 w/in a year). My purple tang has was just added 10 days ago and seems to be very healthy. He is eating various foods. The problem is that he hides whenever I walk into the room. He comes out to eat and seems to always be swimming freely when I walk past. But when I am in the room, he is very shy. Is this common for a purple tang?

Not for mine... he sees me and goes nuts thinking he's getting food. Give him some time... are you sure he just doesn't hide all the time??
Even when I'm working in the tank he's the only one out swimming around... well him and the LMB.

think of it this way it has traveled over 6000 miles to your aquarium the fish has been in at least 4 different aquariums in the last past 4 weeks and has been under so much stress in the last past fue weeks that it would kill most people. how would you react if you where to see a person.
He will get use to you eventually.
Requiem.

Actually, he has gotten more comfortable since this thread started. He loves the shark, they hang out in the same rock tunnel.
