Any Angel fish reef safe?

I am upgrading my tank to a 150 and was looking to start some soft corals. I also was looking to add a queen or emperor but have seen that they are not reef safe. Are there any angels that are??

It is hit or miss. Mostly not ...but some have had luck.

Kind of what I was afraid of. I guess I was/am hoping that it was not so definite.

Nothing is definite... You may be the lucky one that acquires a reef safe specimen. I would love to have a Queen or Emperor in my 130...but,not wanting to risk it.

Drawf angels are generally listed as reef safe but again it is hit and miss depends on the personality of the individual fish. I have kept both a Rusty Pygmy angel and a Coral Beauty in my reef tank with no issues but another local reefer's Coral beauty had an apetite for zoas.

Thanks guys, its a shame but I guess my desire to have one type of fish will have to wait. I really want to delve into trying corals and since you can only have the 1 angel per tank it seems like more to the coral than the other. Oh well maybe someday..

Out of all the angels, anything in the Genichanthus family would be your best bet. For one of them to eat coral/inverts would be very rare IMO.

yep i've got a pair of swallowtails (blackspot angels) in my reef, they are as reef safe as you'll get with angels! i've got a full reef and they are model citizens!

I had to return a flame angel for eating my acros.

He was a beauty, but my acros were more important...
