any benefits to algae?

My trigger tank is full of red and green algae. Its on everything except the front glass thanks to my new magnetic cleaner (the fella who created this should get a nobel prize). I was thinking that maybe the since the algae survives on waste, isnt it keeping my water cleaner? Or am i retarded?

IMO, I think that algae is good, in a way. And call me crazy, but I really don't think it looks half bad as long as you keep it under control...

it really depends on what kind of algae you have growing. certain algaes are bad and certain ones are good. when you get into the macro algaes, they can help lower trates, etc. a better description may help you get the answers you are looking for...
