In my opinion Chad Smith of the chili peppers and John Bonham of zeppelin are the best. They are my main influences.

My dad was a drummer for over.... wow, I've lost track on how many years... just as long as I can remember. He did the worship music at our church.

I was, but my drum-set was a horrible kiddie one (the ones sold at Wal-Mart.)
First day the snares in the snare drum broke, then the cymbals started bending horribly, then the bass drum skin got a hole in it...
Needless to say, I'm not a drummer any more.

My 17 yr old son is a drummer, he started on some roland electrics but never really liked them. I bought a set of Taye rockpros and Zildjian ZXT pro ti cymbals, Man did his playing skills sky rocket, just from having something he thought was good and putting a lot of practice time in.
The Rockpros are currently in negotiations to be sold, the new set, which will be bought with the money from that sale and his summer job, will be a DW product. Currently he is looking at the PDP FX 7 peice set and the all white 805's.
He is really excited about making the purchase on his own, but still keeeps asking me if I think the're cool. ( neat time for me).

Our favorite drummers are Neil Pert and Tony Royster Jr.
Remember to have fun, and get what sounds good and looks good to you. The only other advice is to not skimp on Hardware, it always get replaced with something better when it breaks, and cheap hardware will break, Lord knows my wallet knows that.

Our snake was named Sepulatian. He has since passed on. His name was derived from Sepultura. He was awsome and is very much missed.
