Any Experience? Topic: Sea Cucumbers

I am considering getting a Sea Cucumber (found a store that offers Pink Hawaiian ones which is nice because my tank is a Hawaiian theme) and wanted to know others experiences.
I just read on them and it said they can get scared and kick out all their organs, etc (sounds weird) killing themselves and your whole tank.
This scares me. How real is this threat?
I have a DSB and other readings say this is a great way to keep it stirred and clean.
TIA.

Mine spit out all its organs the other night. i quickly removed the cucumber and the organs and no one died. So if you act quickly you should be fine. I think my peppermint shrimp were pestering him too much

There are tons of horror stories regarding cukes and apples. Fortunately, I've never had a problem with them. I didn't even acclimate mine, I just through him in and he started eating right away. I'm not familiar with the Pink Hawaiian species, but I do know that the Red and Black Cukes are non-venomous. I guess it all depends on how good the water is. They're right up there with Blue Linkias in terms of difficulty level. Good luck. The Hawaii theme is nice, but you don't want to throw it all away because of a toxic sand-sifter.

cukes will spit out thier intestines in defense. they grow em back. The sand sifters are really easy and no problem - well - less ya get a mysterious hitchiker within one as I did lol. A glass fish that lives inside the cuke.
