Grew up listening to them since my mom is a big fan. I've even went to a few shows with my parents. They are excellent live.
Cool. Saw them at Westbury last night...
Nice. Funny, when I started to really get good at acoustic guitar, I insisted on learning the opening to "Roundabout." My teacher had no idea what I was talking about, so I asked my mom if I could have a new teacher, lol

Sounds fair, considering that is one of the most iconic prog rock songs ever! They did that song last night, along with most of the classic catalog. It was just Jon Anderson on acoustic guitar and Wakeman on 2 keyboards, one a standard piano sound and the other all his synthesizer sounds
Owner of a lonely heart. They were a pretty cool band for the era. Much, much better than the synth-pop drivel sliming over from England back then. Yes, Tears For Fears and Talking Heads were the few redeeming English bands in a bland and copy-cat eletronica wasteland of the 80's.

Depeche Mode: "I'm taking a ride with my best friend. I hope that he don't let me down." That's classic synth-pop garbage right there.
Enjoy the Silence, Blasphemous rumors.
The Cure, and of course, YES

The 80s were actually when Yes made their worst music. Their music from the 70s helped define the whole progressive rock movement that included Yes, ELP, Genesis (before Phil Collins) and King Crimson. Check out their albums Fragile or Close to the Edge for some great stuff.

No one would put Yes in the same category as DM or the Cure, and I am a fan of all those bands. DM and The Cure were straight up alternative rock

A song from that same album is one that all your religious folks should love though.... Called Sacred
Sacred
Holy
To put it in words
To write it down
That is walking on hollowed ground
But it's my duty
I'm a missionary
