So I just bought my first house and am really getting in to the yard again. when I was living with my mother a few years back I had her yard perrfect. no weeds no nothing. my mother on the one hand had exelant taste in flowers and I could rack up a 300 hundred doller water bill with my green yard.
My questions
what is a good product to put on the whole yard to kill the 58,324,592 weeds I have in my yard. while not harming my bermuda grass
I use scotts fertilizer any body else know of a better brand?
what are some good prenials that bloom for a long period of time?
I know there are others like me out there so show yourself a brag

round up IS NOT safe for grass!!! weed B gone is a good weed killer and fairly cheap... vinegar is a good organic weed killer... there are several different types of weed n feed that you can get at the home depot or lowes... dont use round up unless you want everything dead though!!!

If it's that weeded out...you know as well as I, a ground clear weed killer is probably a good choice. Tear it all up after a year roll/till in some new topsoil(if needed) seed or add sod.
If it really isn't that weed infested and your just frustrated. Weed and feed fall and spring w/overseeding as per wf instructions and keep after the weeds.
Best I can come up with.

meeracid is one of the best fertilizers that i know of, and as for weeds, pull as many of them out (you have to get the roots!!) then use the weed and feed, it works better that way.

I'd love to help out with some advice, but unfortunately the only plant life I can seem to grow is red hair algae!

ya, try mowing the lawn really short and then use it, that might help. or you could always take out the yard and put dirt on the roof, then add seed and water it often...i hope to do this some day lol

No green thumb here, i can't keep a flower alive for anything, but my yard is the best looking in the neighborhood...well, except for that one guy...
Anyway, I WAS using Lesco's products and I really liked it, but this past year I switched over to Vigoro (Home Depot) and I apply what it says on the back of the bag, during the season it says to apply it and it works very well.
Don't know how compatible it is with bermuda grass but you can check that out...
fall is coming soon. Yoou'll wanna aerate, and winterize and seed...LOTS of seed!. Right before spring you'll want the preemergent and crab preventer
Any chemicals or fertilizers you use, apply at dusk, early morning, or on a cloudy day. The plants do not take up nutrients in exteme heat so putting something down on a hot summer day is kind of a waste of time. Unless it's the granuals, in which case they will last.
Oh and raise the blades on your mower if they are not already, and if you can, bag the clippings cause they accumulate and smother parts of the lawn. Least here they do. The 'mulching' feature don't work either...

Some perrenials I have in my front garden :
Shasta Daisy
Blue Daisy
Moonbeam Coresopisis
Purple Coneflower
White Coneflower
Beebalm
Black Eye Susans
All grow about 3 ft tall except the moonbeams (they grow about 16 inches)
Check them out at Michigan Bulb Co. That's where I got mine from. Keep in mind - the first year they won't get good results but come the following year, watch out ! They grew spectacular !!!
