I want to get a mandarin goby really bad but I dont think theres enough for him to eat yet and I dont want to wait a long time to get him. Is there any way to speed up the pod growth? I dont know of anything that they eat besides that. Has any one else found a food for them? Anyone tried frozen cyclop-eeze?

I would get a refuge about yaaaah big (holding arms out as wide as a 75g) and fill it with as much live rock as you can, from multiple sources.

it equals peanut butter jelly time, duh.
some sponges hidden in the back of the tank behind the rocks works well. just make sure you don't buy a sponge with added household cleaners.

I am setting up a refugium and have to buy some pods. Do I need anything for them, ie food or supplements? Should I wait untill the fuge is established before getting the pods or put them after a few days?
thanks

if you have ample live rock currently and you buy pods online...like 4 bottles.... you wait a month to give the pods time to reproduce you will have enough. just be sure you have lots of live rock for them to breed in. also you don't need to suppliment ANY food for teh pods IMO. they have plenty of food from you feeding as well from teh live rock.

Fish cannot live on brine shrimp, however.
Another critical question we've left out of this discussion is what fish will the Mandarin be competing with? Unless you have a large tank and a productive refugium fish like Wrasses will eat all of the pods.

is that peanut butter and jelly with a baseball bat?
My pod breeding ground is the blue/wite poly filter pad (cut rite pad) buried under a bunch of life rock rubble.
All the time the pile of rubble rock looks like a volcano erupting with pods.

100lbs of LR considered enough for a mandarin goby? I dont think anything else I have will eat the pods...
2 Tomato Clowns
2 Blue Damsels
2 CB shrimp
1 Scopas Tang
(soon to have some kind of shrimp goby)
...clean up crew
