I'm thinking of getting my appraisers license and starting a new career. anybody do this for a living? any idea what kind of money they make? I live in one of the fastest growing areas in the country. I already have a real estate license, but I don't think Im interested in selling real estate fulltime (plus I think real estate agents are going to be pretty much phased out in the next decade). anybody do appraisals or perhaps surveying?

My Aunt is an Appraiser. She started out in Real Estate. My impression listening to her is that you have to find someone willing to let you work under them for a few years before you can do it alone. I could be completely wrong here but that is what it sounded like. She makes real good money, but she travels all over the state of Florida so she works a lot of hours.

no, you're right. once licensed, you have to work under someone else for 2 years. I live in Myrtle Beach (one of the fastest growing areas in the US) so I don't think I'd have to travel much. but I think it would be fun, if I could get my foot in the door.
