Any reason not to add cleaner clams?

I've got a live sand and gravel/shell mixed base. I also have very slightly elevated nitrates (10-20). Any reason I shouldn't add a few cleaner clams? Would they be okay in my base? Would they get enough to eat in a 28 gallon tank?

Someone please tell me if I am wrong.... but I would definately add them to help out with your parameters. I've heard that clams do not last long and could be eaten by any crabs that you may have, but I've personally had a few clams with much success.

I bought 3 from this site last week. Within a day they all buried themselves in the sand. Only hope they don't die there without me knowing.

They will surface if they die... and if they dont, your clean up crew will hover over the sand were its burried.... an FYI: the food store is a good source for these as well

I thought they looked good enough to eat!
Actually, I thought those were freshwater clams at the store. Thanks for the tip!
