I'm planning out possible stocklists right now for a reef, and was wondering if there are any large angels that are reefsafe???? (If not then I think i'll probably end up going with a FOWLR that I don't really want.)

imo, no angel is ever reef safe. they will eat and nip corals. even if u get one that doesnt do it initially, it might start one day. go w fowlr!

any Genicanthus (sp?) angel is 100% reef safe, as they are planktivores. ...
Ive had my Swallowtail for about a year and a half in a 75 gall reef... with all sorts and types of corals... has never touched a thing.... you will also find some others from other genres that are good citizens as well... for example.. ive had my Coral beauty in the same tank...and its never eaten or hurt any coral.. so to say that there is no reef safe angel is a little off IMO
Heres a list of some Genicanthus angels
Swallowtail angel
Japanese Swallowtail
Watanabei Angel
Lamarcks Angel
Zebra Angel
Zebra Lyretail Angel
Tiger Angel
Those are the ones i recall from the top of my head, but im sure their are a lot more

I have a Swallowtail in my 90 and a Lamarks in my 120. Both reefs. These fish couldn't care less about the corals. IMHO TOTALLY reef safe.
