Any runners out there?

I am about to run the Detroit Marathon on Oct. 29th. I have run Chicago (last year) and Cleveland (2 years ago) and am looking into running another in the spring. Anyone have any suggestions on fun races? I would like to run a good time, so I am looking for something flat and fast. I am in Ann Arbor, MI so we don't have many hills to run on. I wouldn't mind traveling for the next one and making a weekend out of it. What are some of the fun races you have run before?
Favorite Races
1. Chicago Marathon
2. Utica Boilermaker (15K Utica, NY)
3. Van Cortland Park (8K NYC Collegiate Race)
4. Run For The Diamonds (9 mile Berwick, PA)
5. Dexter-Ann Arbor Half Marathon (Name speaks for itself)

I wish I were a good runner.
There's a little bit too much 'up top' for me to run and it NOT be uncomfortable!

My boyfriend and I are about to start running together. He plays soccer a lot, so he is a great runner. On the Varsity team last year they used to run six miles a day! I'd DIE!

For years I competed in Triathalon. Being from Colorado, the Boulder peak Triathalon is still my favorite. If I was 10 years younger I would train for the Iron Man.

I run three miles a day. I want to do the Boston Marathon someday. I should stop talking about it and just do it.

its not in the summer but here is one in San Diego:
TEAM CF Marathon Training program!
It's a great program and makes it easy, fun, and an injury free event.
The way the program works, if you want to run or walk, the coach, Robert Mills, figures out what your pace is and you go from there. For instance, he might set you up for a two-three minute running, one minute of walking. The reason for that is to give your running muscles a recovery time. This is done through the whole race and you finish with a smile! The fundraising covers the cost of your training, dinner the night before the race, your entry into the race, a TEAM CF t-shirt, and a TEAM CF singlet.
Our first training session begins next Saturday October 4th, but you can join in anytime until the end of November. We are training for the Carlsbad full/half marathon on January 21, 2007.
As for the fundraising, it's actually pretty easy. You can do it on line at http://active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1166189 . We'll introduce you to few CF kids so you can use one of them as your CF Ambassador.
The training for the Rock & Roll Marathon begins the end of January or the beginning of Feb.

Thanks for the petieaztec, I will look into it. ImUrNamine they make special equipment for that!
I think I will end up doing Boston. I think the qualifying time for my age group (18-34) is 3hrs 10 mins, so I will have move pretty fast. I should be able to get that as long as nothing terrible goes wrong.
Running is a funny thing. When first start running or start back up for the first time in a while it is always so hard to get back into it. It seems like you will never get over the hump. All your runs feel so bad, but then after a couple weeks of staying with it you start feel so much better. I find it so rewarding both physically and emotionally.

In college I ran the 1500m (which was my main race) and my fastest time was 3:57. When you do the NCAA conversion to the mile (multiply in seconds by 1.08) it would have been equivalent to ~4:16. My fastest 5K (which wasn't my main race) was 16:02. I never could get under 16:00!
That race is so brutal on the track.
