Any thoughts would be great

I have a 46 bow front with a 250 watt MH and 2 95 watt VHO's. All tank inhabitants were healthy, but about 3 weeks ago I did a flatworm treatment and some of my monti's turned brown and have a little bit of die off. I did the carbon thing and about a 20 gallon water change. All water parameters are perfect except nitrates are about 40 ppm, but they have always been there. I overfeed my tanks a little bit and I have cut back recently. So 2 days ago my wife forgot to turn my tank on and yesterday they got a little bit of a late start about an hour. Everybody looked fine after light turned on though. I fed my acan and micros bloodworms and mysid shrimp just before the lights went out. The feeder tenticles came out again so I have a powdered reef feed that I have used many times again and again so I fed them again. I looked at them today and one or two polyps on 3 of my Aussie acans are slightly closed up. On some polyps the whole polyps is, but on other only 1/4-1/2 of the polyp is closed up. All other 9 acans/micros are fine. The polyps look like they were physically damage because on one polyp a very small amount of the skelaton is showing. On the other the stringy stuff on the inside has come out. Now these acans are all 15-20 polyps and only 1 or 2 polyps look like this. They are all adult polyps and in the middle. These are not close to each other and were not filipped over or moved. Anybody have any ideas?? I am at a loss. My Monits are recovering and everybody else is looking as normal.

One other thing. I gave them a good look over before turning off the lights and there reaction was to close up wich is normal, but they closed up quickly which I am assuming is good. Also I turned off the lights and now everybody is opend up except one polyp. Feeder tenticles out like crazy as usual. I really hope these guys will be fine. They are my babies and my prode and joy. They all started off about 4-6 polyps about 4 months ago and are now all approaching 20 polyps. They have tons of babies too many to count. So like I said they are or were very healthy. Pleae give me some good news. Thanks

Maybe some of your live stock like a hermit irritated it. My light cycles are not totally steady and I never have problems. Ill leave my lights off some days and even left of my lights for a full week with no serious ill effects when I was modifying my fixture. I keep mostly SPS in a 46 bow. If you have any pictures of your tank would you mind posting them. I've always wanted to see a 46 bow with higher end coral and metal halide lighting. It sounds like you have a very nice setup.
