Any Web Marketing Experts Out There?

Hi all,
Does anyone know how to increase a website's search results on Google? For example, "key words"? This is for my work, Detroit Steel Group, Inc... When I search Google for certain types of steel we are on the first page (dsgsteel.com). Other key words we are not anywhere to be found. I would like to know how to be on the first page for more things. Any help is appreciated!!!

If you have access to the source code, you can use meta tags to increase visibility and search ability of Googles webcrawler. But you would have to submit the website again to google and let the crawler go back over it with the new tags for it to work. That's as far as I know with HTML. Lol.
There is also paid advertising, google Adsense. It puts your company on the right hand margin of the search results and kinda dangles it in front of people as they are searching. I used it once and got quite a few hits and a few customers from me. I think it made me more money than I paid for it, so I was a happy customer.
Don't just use google, go for many different search engines. I know quite a few people who refuse to use the almighty Google for searching.
Something else to look at is maybe Facebook. Many companies are going to it now with pretty good results, since most of it is free.
I might be completely blowing smoke, I really don't know. It has been five years since I had to do Internet advertising.

I put this same message on my FB page and got a ton of comments. You are very much on the right track. I am now working with someone to get a lot of the things you mentioned started.

i have paid at least 4 different people some big bucks to raise the ranking of my business site.now i found someone local who did an awesome job dirt cheap.added vids to facebook and you tube all kinds of stuff. i paid $900 at first then $300 a month for about 4 months now its always at #1-4 .i say dont bother with the aggrevation of trying it yourself .if you spend advertising dollars smart you will be working alot more making money than sitting in the computer room till midnight doing it yourself.

I am in the process of talking to someone do help out with a lot of this. I do have the time to do it, just not the know how. Thanks for the input Jeff!!!
Most of our business is from word of mouth. If you are coming to us to get some material, that means you can not find it anywhere else. So we can charge a premium.. But times they are a changing and we need to increase sales and maybe lower profit margins.

i have been in business for over 20 years. i have tried every advertising there is. the yellow pages worked awesome 10 years ago now its all yahoo and google.key words are key of course.any good rating expert can hack into any of your competitions websites and see what keywords are working.i say let the pro's do it.the best part is a good ratings person can do the work from anywhere in the world on the web. if you want to talk to my woman doing mine let me know she is very good and works cheap.i would rather spend the time on a job than sitting on the computer trying to up my ratings for the $300 a month she charges.
