anybody in the savannah area?

Im moving to savannah in about a month for college and Im thinking that its going to be a complete 180 from here in NY. I mean, I have visited many times but, it will obviously be quite different when I am living there. Anybody from the Savannah area who knows of good things to do down there. I know there is alot of golf and the beach is about 40 minutes away but... any other nice places in the area?

OMG! I am so jealous. Savanna has got to be my mostest favoritest city in the US mainland.
Downtown is so historical, so safe.
River walk. I think I would be perfectly happy going there every single day.
I never lived there and have only visited about 5 times or so. But every time I go, it's confirmed to be my fav. city.
That's it, I'm moving there too..

haha. Do you mean walking on river street? Or is river walk something different? It is a beautiful town.

The line of shops right there up against the water.
There is a road, but it's hardly drivable. Trolleys travel it, and I guess the seasoned vets, but no way I'd attempt it.
Did I mention that I love Savanna??

haha. Yeah that is river street. I brought my girlfriend there a few months back it was really nice. Deffinately not great for driving. Not even all that great for walking lol.

Yay! I'll be there June 19-July 4th, along with being on Tybee!

My son is stationed in Fort Stewart which is near there. He likes it so much he tried to re deploy back to the middle east early to get out of there. He's a Montana kid and doesn't care for the southern weather.
