my wife and sister-in-law went to waverly hills sanatorium this past week and got the crap scared out of them. if you don't know what it is it's a old tb hospital from the 1920's and 63,000 people died there. it is one of the most haunted places in america.
if anybody shows an intrest in this thread i will post some pics of when they went they got some geat pics of outside with all this lighting showing up in the pics but there was no lighting that night. very cool stuff we r all going back for an 8 hour overnight tour sometime this fall. i can't wait.

That sounds like such fun! I've always wanted to go to Eastern State Penitentiary in Philly for their Haunted Nights. Here in FL there are "Ghost Tours" but most of them are just corny. The only really neat-o one I've been to down here was in St. Augustine. There are several of them- we went on a different one each night! If anyone else knows of any kick-a** haunted places in FL, please post! :scared:

i love scary stuff. there is a reason my avatar is jason i play him at one of our local haunted trails during october. its really cool they setup huge fog machines for me and my brother in law who plays michael meyers down by a pond they have and it's surrounded by trees so it gives the whole crystal lake feel.
i'm not tooting my own horn but the people that went thrugh said that we were the two best charecters they had. i even had a lady pay twice just to take pics of me with one of her friends in full costum. i was standing on this little bridge and she was in front of me and i had my machette drew back looking like i was gonna take her head off. i had so much fun doing this.

i have a hard time believing those pics. spirits are short quick burts not like that. if this is someplace that gives tours they probably put some sort of uv rays or something into the air to mess with the camara. ive been to a few places here in ny that freaked me out.

I am a firm believer in ghosts. and aliens, but thats another matter. Ive never lived in a UFO but I have lived in a haunted house. It was when I lived in hawaii and I was stationed at hickam air force base. Our house was a larger house out in a secluded part of the base where you needed three or more children to live. This subdivision was made up of old army houses that were moved to the location post-battle of pearl harbor. It just so happens the houses were put on land that had dead people galore in it since we lived right on pearl harbor. I could throw a baseball and hit it from my back door and if anyone had ever been out there you would know that hickam had adjoining fences with pearl harbor. We had a hawaiian burial ground just down the street from our house for some remains they found while digging up a trench for some new pipes. But thats besides the point. We had ghosts in the house.
It all started out innocently with lights turning off, the first time it happened just so happened to be the first time I had done homework all year as a seventh grader(it was the beginning of the second semester). For that reason I thought my brother was giving me ---- and #$%@ing with the lights. As soon as the light went off I went and found him in the TV room and immidiately confronted him. He was like, I didnt touch the circuit breaker box, why dont you go check your light switch. I did, and it was turned to the off position. Other lights would turn off randomly, particularly one that was touch sensitive. When ever I would go out back to smoke a cigarette I could put my ear up to the door to listen and I would hear murmurs just barely audible so you couldnt hear what they were saying but you could still hear something being said. My mom heard those also and would complain to us children about them. On those instances where I would hear the murmurs I would come in and just start cussing. Ghosts dont like cussing. On another instance we were all in our rooms and a door on the other side of the house slammed wickedly hard shaking the whole house. Minutes later my mom came in and asked did you just slam the back door? I told her no and that I thought she did it. She replied It must have been the ghosts and walked off. What encouraging words to hear just before you go to sleep. That was another problem, since my parents were nazi's about the stupid things I could only use the bathroom on the other side (ghost infested side) of the house. ever. no matter what time. so I pee'd out my window if it was late. only thing I regret about that is having a full window screen that you have to piss thru. I eventually made a hole because the splattering was getting out of hand, if only I had thought of that sooner. Lastly I will share the two worst experiences, one happened to me. I was in the ghost infested part of the house one night doing my laundry, I was waiting for the water to collect so I could dillute the detergent before I put my clothes in and all of a sudden I heard foot steps in the kitchen. They were slow but steady and I thought nothing of it. Then they started picking up their pace, faster and faster. There were two cats in the back area with me and they were freaking out since they didnt know where these foot steps were coming from. I just hid in the bathroom after the cats started really freaking out. I came out about a minute later, shoved my wash in the machine and went immidiately to my parents room to ask them if either of them had been on the other side of the house, I had a strange suspicion that my step dad was just screwing with my head but both of them had been on the other side of the house, no where near me. I fell asleep at the foot of their bed that night, because I was a big wuss when I was 12. Another incident was when my step dad was out one night reading the bible at 2am and he heard foot steps coming from the ghost infested part of the house. They came closer and closer untill he heard them walk right by and out the front window where the curtains fluttered on cue. Thus concludes my rant, my mother had the house blessed by a priest after I was kicked out to live with my father and she claims she never had another incident there after. But that house wasnt the only house on the street and pretty much all of them were haunted. Some by little girls in white dresses (which every member of the house had seen), others by little kids playing ring around the rosie in a vacant room only to stop when you open the door. I was almost glad when I didnt live in HI anymore.

If you ever get a chance to visit Gettysburg, PA, it's well worth the time. In late June and early July, there are hundreds of re-enactors who come annually for the re-enacting of the 4 day battle. We were there a few times over the past several years with our scouts. On one visit, we were at Little Round Top, and as usual there were costumed actors there taking in the sights. We had stopped to talk to a family who was also involved in scouting. One of our boys had walked over to a bench to talk to an elderly man dressed in a Confederate officer's uniform. We had seen the man as well and several of our scouts were walking around taking pictures, etc.. Within about 10 minutes the one boy came over and stood next to us and said that the old guy in the Confederate uniform was "weird". When asked what he meant, the boy said that the old man asked him what division he was from, and told him to "get back to his unit because all hell was going to break loose." The boy said the man just stared at him for a minute and then got up. It was no more than a minute from the time the boy left the man until he came to tell us what happened. We looked over to the bench where the old man had been sitting and he was not there. Now Little Round Top has a pretty sheer drop off, and in back is a parking/visitor's area. The old man was nowhere to be found. We went up to the parking area and didn't see him, and there was no other way he could have left in such a short time and not be seen wearing his uniform. We asked our other boys, who had also seen the man on the bench, and who had been scattered around in the visitors area and they didn't see the man leave either. The boy who told us the account had not been with other boys to corroborate his story so it wasn't some scheme hatched by them. In talking to many people who have visited the area, it seems this is not an uncommon phenomena. I guess you draw your own conclusions but it's unnerving when you are party to such an incident. :scared:

Just my kind of thread! I love this kind of stuff.
I love Ghost hunters. Did you see the live show they had on Halloween?
Nu2salt:
There was a special on Waverly Sanitorium last year. It was a one or two hour deal and discussed the history of the place and had people doing paranormal investigation there. They had some freaky stuff happen including seeing shapes/? people--caught on film. That place is really spooky. With all the deaths that occurred there, has to be haunted.
Another really haunted place is Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, LA. If anyone is interested, I will tell you about it. It is on an Indian Burial ground and some truly freaky stuff has happened there.

Rad,
I grew up in Hawaii, lived in Mililani. I had a lot of native friends and we used to go to the pinapple fields near a bridge that ran over a valley (forgive me I was too young to remember road names). My friends parents had all sorts of stories about king Kamehameha and his slaves that were some sort of pygmy or dwarf or something. The Hawaiian ghost stories were great but then again I was a kid.

well our house is hunted! when i was younger and my parents first bought the house we didnt have a key for the front door. everynite you would here the front door open and here someone walking up the stairs! you would go look no one there, our great dane would be standing by the stairs growling. then we would get up in the morning and find cigar butts and pickle stems in the ash tray and we never kept that stuff in the house. now in the future with the door changed it still opens. i found out from my father that the old owner died in the kitchen on the floor. and for some reason my dad still has the guys jacket in out closet. now every once in a while my friends have witnessed when the front door opens about 5 sec later the closet door opens. freeks my friends right out i guess im just used to it. it seems like he wants his stuff, totally weird. melly gets scared when it happens and if she goes to get a drink in the middle of the night she runs through the house, shes a little baby. if you find this interesting let me know i have more

My family and I went to Charleston, SC for vacation and went on a ghost tour. I expected it to be totally cheesy, but got surprised.
The tour went into the old jail where a bunch of pirates had been held until their respective executions. One part of the jail has been noted to have alot of phenomenon. While we were in that part, two people and me were surrounded by a severely cold spot. The people around us couldn't feel it unless they came and stood by us. It was not a draft---the cold spot moved with us. The temperature difference was probably about 10 degrees. This happened to me two different times in that jail and in two different areas. The second time occurred with a different person beside me. It spooked me out completely. The tour guide said that that has happened to a few other people who come to that jail--it occurs in different spots and he doesn't mention that on the tour unless someone mentions that it is happening to them on the tour. Then he relates others experiences. I got the he** out of there post haste!
