Anybody recognize him?

He came in as an assorted puffer.
Anyone have a clue as to his identity?
Sorry the pics aren't that great.

i have the same puffer in my qt, no idea on name but he will only eat brine for me, does your get a blackish color underneath everyonce in a while

it almost looks like a starry puffer but the spots are really big.
I was also thinking a reticulated puffer but I'm not sure. Look those two up on google and compare them to him.

Mine is eating everything/anything-prawn,krill,siversides,clams. I tossed in a renegade fiddler for my porcupine and the two of them ripped it apart.
This guy has as much personality as my porcupine and they get along great.

I got him from a friend whose breaking down his tank. I wish I had more room because he has another one and I absolutly love his personality.

You should make an effort to get him to eat something else, he'll eventually starve on brine shrimp. Also, puffers need some shelled food in their diet in order to ground down their teeth.

i catch those here on long island. not sure if there a cool water fish or if they come up in the gulf stream or something like that.
**just looked it up in the audubon field guide and it looks like a checkered puffer. usually found in the gulf/bahamas, but can be found seasonally to NJ.
it gets to 15".
